We---Midge and Jim Peltier---bought the tennis court from Mrs. Cota about 1970. She lived in the big house next door and the tennis court was part of her property. We played tennis there, and formed a small group of “members” who played. We called ourselves the “Broken Racket Club.” During this time, in the 70's and 80's, we used to meet there and go bicycle riding on Sunday mornings. Some of those who rode with us were Mary and Joe Fox, the Ralph Baum family, the Chuck Brown family, and others who came now and then. We usually continued on to breakfast at the Mexican Village or at La Avenida restaurant.
Jim and I sold the tennis court property to Chris and Francie Mortenson and subsequently they brought the Victorian house over to Coronado from San Diego and placed it on the lot. At that time we requested a copy of the movie of the move and have since given it to the Coronado Historical Association.
Sincerely,
Midge Peltier
